Our marina base

Our marina and hire base is at the Northern end of the Mon & Brec Canal and you're able to walk or cycle the 3 mile stretch into Brecon along the adjacent towpath. Whether you choose to cruise North to Brecon basin or South to Talybont, cruising time is approx 2 hours and you will be able to enjoy most of the interesting features of the canal such as the aqueduct, lift bridges, tunnel, locks, and fantastic views of the Brecon Beacons.

The marina is also home to our two resident swans, Bob and Gloria and their cygnets who hatch each May. A heron, 3 otters, numerous ducks, kingfisher, kites, owls and bats are just a few of the local wildlife who reside close by.

How to find us

We are situated just outside Brecon, off the A40 and just one hour from the Prince of Wales bridge. Take the A40 from Abergavenny, after Crickhowell and Bwlch take Left turn to Talybont on Usk, then Right turn on to B4558 towards Brecon, continue on and 1 mile after village of Pencelli our marked driveway is on right side. (Mind speedhumps). For hirers coming by public transport the nearest railway station is at Abergavenny (about 20 miles from us) and a bus from there, passes our marina every two hours. We are also within easy reach of the A470, the main road from Cardiff and Merthyr Tydfil and our postcode LD3 7LJ should direct you right to us on any navigational app.

Car Parking

Loading your canal hire boat from your car is easy at our purpose built moorings. We provide secure and secluded car parking to give you peace of mind about your vehicle whilst you enjoy your holiday on the Mon and Brec. Please contact us beforehand if you are planning on bringing multiple or large vehicles but we cannot guarantee we have space for more than 2 cars per booking or any large vehicles such as motorhomes or campervans.

Visiting from overseas?

The nearest airport to the Brecon Beacons and our marina is Cardiff International Airport which is only an hour away.
